Father’s Day is fast approaching (20th June for those of you that didn’t know!). It is a day for celebration to show our fathers we respect them, admire them and appreciate all they do for us as well as a time to commemorate our fathers and forefathers. It is a great way to just say thank you and remind your Dad that you love him.
The idea to celebrate Father’s day in the UK was imported from America where a lady called Mrs John Bruce-Dodd first came up with the idea in the early twentieth century to complement Mother's Day. It wasn’t actually until the late 70's that Father’s Day started to grow in popularity. Both Mother’s day and Father’s day are official holidays in America however they are not officially recognised here in the UK. But that doesn’t stop us from celebrating it!
