So why would you want to have your kitchen painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™? Well, it will revitalise your existing units at a fraction of the price of a new kitchen, or even new doors, and maybe leave enough in your budget for new handles, worktops or tiling. The most common comment from our customers is that it is ‘just like a new kitchen’.
Painting with Chalk Paint™ is very simple. There is normally no need to sand, prime or undercoat – the surface just needs to be clean and dry. Just apply two coats of paint and one or maybe two coats of Annie Sloan Clear Wax (other finishes available), a quick buff and you’re done.
You may be thinking, ‘well why can’t I do the painting if it’s that easy?’. Good idea! At Thomas & Lucia we are happy to give you advice, including on how much paint you will need, and you can buy all the products online here or in the shop. However, if it’s not something you have time for, or wish to do, then we offer a kitchen painting service which, by the way, can also include tables, chairs and other free standing items such as dressers and sideboards.
We discuss your initial ideas, in the shop, by phone or via email. If you’d then like a formal estimate Matthew will arrange to come and see you to have a look at the kitchen and discuss your requirements in more detail. He will then produce a written Commission Statement that will clearly state what has been agreed, prices and expected timescales.
Once the deposit has been paid we will schedule a start date for the work. Depending on the size of the kitchen it will take 2-3 weeks to complete.
We remove all the doors, drawer fronts and free standing items and paint them in our purpose-built workshop in Christchurch. Items that can’t be removed will be painted on site at a mutually agreed date. Finally, we will return and refit the doors and drawers and reattach handles.
Note: While we can ship paint and accessories to most parts of the UK our painting service is currently limited to within approximatly 20-25 miles of Christchurch, Dorset (BH23).
What we don’t do is pull a guess out of thin air, however educated it might be. Instead we have developed an estimating tool into which we input the types and number of things to paint like, base cabinet door 300mm or wall cabinet door 500mm, and it will work out a price and how much paint will be needed. So, unsurprisingly, the cost is directly related to the size of the kitchen. It’s just that we’re getting quite good at estimating and our pricing is consitant and the same for everybody.
As a guide a small kitchen tends to work out at around £400-500 plus materials including VAT.
Individual figures would be provided for free standing items like a dresser or table and chairs.
